Damp mop the floor at least once a week or as required. Once a month damp mop your floors using a bit of water with a ph balanced wood or cork cleaner. Sweep or vacuum your floor daily. Frequent sweeping or vacuuming is the most important thing that you can do to help maintain the integrity of a cork floor.

This will remove debris that can scratch and wear down the sealant on your floors. To maintain your cork floor s color install curtains or blinds over the windows in the room. Close the curtains or blinds when the room is not in use or the sun is shining directly through those. Use a ph balanced wood or cork cleaning agent diluted in water.

Avoid ammonia based or harsh abrasive chemical cleaners. Never immerse the surface of the floor in water to clean it. Use a brush attachment not a beater bar attachment as it can damage the finish. Dirt dust grit or debris may scratch the surface of a cork floor.

Monthly or whenever your floor looks dirty mop with a stronger solution. To keep your cork floor looking great vacuum or sweep it once a week. Clean with stronger treatments occasionally. When small particles of dirt dust and debris are allowed to accumulate on its surface they can act like sandpaper scuffing the scratching the surface every time someone walks across the floor.

Occasionally a mild detergent can be added to the water or simply go ahead and purchase a neutral cleaner as your main form of flooring cleaner. Sweep or vacuum your cork floors regularly. Dirt and debris can scratch the floor. A polyurethane sealed floor only needs to be wiped with a damp cloth or mop.

Instead of vinegar use mild cork floor or wood floor detergent diluted according to label instructions. Sand grains or fine particles are death to a cork finish or any high polished surface for that matter and should be swept up regularly. You may use another mild ph neutral cleaner but test it underneath furniture first to see if it leaves a mark. While cork flooring is typically coated with a thin layer of sealant over time this wears away leaving your floor vulnerable to moisture.

Clean up spills immediately as cork is porous and will soak up liquids quickly staining the surface. Vacuuming comes in very handy when keeping your cork floor in top shape. Regular cleaning will prevent these abrasions.
